Killings of Women in the name of Honor and other incidents of violence against women reported in the Month of September and October in Media

Near Pir Goth (Village) Tasleema was murdered in the name of Honor. According to the reports, the interior motive behind the murder was ‘Property’. Reports further says that both her husband namely Ibrahim and his father-in-law Zamir throw her in front of mad dogs first and later killed her with gun-shots. (Reported in Daily Kawish)

1. Near Dera Murad Jamali, in Nasirabad, balouchistan, two women were buried alive. This issue flashed out in both national and international media.

2. 20 years old, Samina, resident of Moro City, whose head was shaved by her own father just because she wanted to marry a person of her own choice. Samina shared that her husband wanted to kill her in the name of HONOR but when she managed to run away from her house in order to save her life. 3. In Sukker city, a person slaughtered her 22 years old wife Zehra with a knife just because she refused to give him money for drugs (Daily Kawish, September, 2008 with picture)

4. Near Wahan (name of a small place) at Imam Baksh Kharu, a notorious dacoit Ghulam Rasool Kharu killed her niece on grounds that she had illicit relations with someone.

5. In village Ali Sher Jakhrani ,near Jacobabad, three unknown people killed three women and one man in the name of Honor Killing.

6. Sijawal Jonejo, Shahdad Kot, a son opened fired at her mother in the name of honor while she was sleeping. Media reports say the victim has left nine children behind. No action has been taken by police.

7. Mirpur Mathello, at Waryam Unar, a cruel, stone-hearted father killed her 14 years daughter Hajran by opening fires at her. The Uncle of the victims handed himself over to the police as one of the accomplices in the murder of 14 years old Hajran told the police that Hajran was Kari.

8. Thatta, Gharu, a dead body of a young girl who is allegedly killed by strangulation was found from bushes. No clue

9. The case of Samreen Fatima, deceased Asst: Professor of I.R. Department, Sindh University whose murder is still a mystery. Murdered who? Police action? Judicial Enquiry?
